About 70 fitness fans got hot and sweaty for a good cause during a charity event organised by zumba instructor Helen Lea.

The summer zumbathon at Holbeach Community Centre raised about £3,300 to be shared between Cancer Research UK and the children’s ward at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

It was the second event of its kind in two years after another zumbathon organised by Helen of Whaplode Drove raised about £3,600 for the cancer charity and the Scoliosis Association (UK) which helps people with curved or twisted spines.

Helen (pictured in the middle with instructors Emmeline Jones and Michelle Launchbury) said: “I didn’t know how much we’d raise but as the money kept coming in, I thought £3,000 was a figure we could reach.

“I was really pleased with the amount raised because a lot of people put in a lot of effort for the zumbathon.”
