The search is on for a centenarian in Holbeach who will open the first flower festival in the town for six years.
Plans are well under way the Holbeach Community Flower Festival which runs from May 1 to 5 with a theme of Holbeach Past and Present.
Exhibitions, displays and demonstrations are taking place at All Saints Church, Holbeach Reading Rooms and along Church Street, but organisers are looking for someone aged 100 or older to open the festival.
Rev Rosamund Seal, vicar of Holbeach, said: “Plans are well under way for the re-introduction of a flower festival in Holbeach which will be combined with a craft fair, demonstrations and activities over the bank holiday weekend.
“The activities planned so far include a concert organised by University Academy Holbeach and the two primary schools at All Saints Church on Friday May 2, the popular Teddy Bear parachute from the tower and a bell ringing session, both on Saturday May 3.”
Other events include maypole dancing, a fun dog show and a Songs of Praise church service on Sunday May 4.
