The street food revolution has come to Spalding with the opening of a new noodle takeaway.

Wok Aroma Noodle Bar in Holland Market aims to give people a more convenient and healthy option when it comes to fast food.

Owner Tim Chan (42), originally from Hong Kong, has 20 years’ experience working in the catering industry, including in one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, Lakeside in Essex.

Tim said: “My background is in noodle bars and street food, so I wanted to bring the modern concept of east Asian food to Spalding.

“I believe it’s convenience food and a healthier alternative to other food stops round here.

“People have a choice of three differently sized boxes and nine flavours, including sweet and sour chicken.”

Tim said: “Some of our dishes come from different parts of eastern Asia and we’ve tried to pick the most popular flavours and bring them to Spalding.

“So far, a lot of people have said the town needs something like this and it’s a good spot for a food outlet.

“It would be nice to have some tables and chairs outside the shop in the future to make it more cosy and to build a niche here.”

Shop fitters took about four weeks to get the noodle bar ready for its opening on Tuesday when customers also found a selection, including spring rolls, samosas, egg fried rice and chips on sale.

Tim said: “We want to spread the word about the shop and see where it goes from here.”
