A trio who have served South Holland collectively for generations have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Coun Maurice Chappell, former chairman of Pinchbeck Parish Council, and Petronella Keeling, founder of the Spalding Committee for Action Medical Research, have both been awarded MBEs (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).

Meanwhile, Betty Matthews, who has supported and volunteered for Oxfam since 1962, has been given a British Empire Medal for “meritorious” service in the community.
