Permanent sites were selected on land east of the A16 Spalding bypass at Spalding Marsh and West of Holbeach off the A151.

Land of Centenary Way, Wingland, Sutton Bridge, was chosen as a temporary site.

After the meeting council leader Gary Porter said the decision reached was "reasonable" and added that it had been arrived at after proper deliberation.

He said: "Some may think these are not the best sites in South Holland but at least the decision was a reasonable one."

Councillors had a shortlist of eight locations and the five to be ruled out were:

  • Lowgate/Eaudike Road, Quadring

  • North of A152 Surfleet (off Bendyke Lane)

  • East of A16 Spalding Bypass (Drain Bank)

  • Cranmore Lane, Holbeach

  • A1101, north of Tydd St Mary
