After winning the coveted Aviva Premiership Landrover Cup at Oakham Rugby Club on Sunday, Spalding Rugby Club under 12s are off to Twickenham in May.
This success is no fluke as every single member of the squad has played their part in the progression of the team.
So far this season, the under 12s have had warm-up tournaments at Kesteven, where they scored a record 115 points in five games and only had one try scored against them.
Then, at the recent Peterborough Festival, they beat every team they came up against, and again only conceded one try.
But, there has only ever been one main goal for the players and coaches and that was to win The Landrover Cup at Oakham.
In this tournament, run by Premiership side, Leicester Tigers, 16 teams took part, from as far afield as Lichfield in Staffordshire to Southwold in Suffolk.
Spalding played six games and won all six, once again only having one try scored against them. A remarkable defensive record, with only four tries conceded since September.
They are now looking forward to their prize for winning the tournament, a trip to Twickenham for the whole under 12s squad to play during half time at the Aviva Premiership final on Saturday, May 27, in front of up to 82,000 people.
Head coach, James Fitzpatrick said: “The players really deserve this and we are very proud of them.”
