A spree of primary school children from across South Lincolnshire enjoyed golf and tennis competitions organised by Agilitas Sports.

Both events were part of the School Games initiative and were organised by Rupert Gibson.

Spalding’s Sir John Gleed School played host to a ‘tri golf’ tournament for six teams, which was eventually won by St John’s School.

Tri golf is a mini version of the sport for primary school pupils and uses plastic clubs with large heads and bigger balls.

The children took part in putting and chipping activities, as well as challenges that included aiming at cones and other targets.

Prior to the event, sports students from the Post 16 Centre visited all of the competing schools and taught them how to use the clubs, while also giving them some practice on the activities.

Results: 1st St John’s; 2nd Weston Hills; 3rd Pinchbeck East; 4th Spalding Primary; 5th St Norberts; 6th Gosberton House.

The tennis tournament at Bourne’s Abbey Lawn was much more populated, with some 24 teams taking part.

No less than 26 sports leaders from Bourne Grammar School provided each team an hour of excellent coaching before the round robin competition kicked off.

In the end, Linchfield A came away with the gold medal, ahead of Bourne Westfield A in the silver position.

Bronze medals also went to Bourne Abbey C and Langtoft A.
