RUGBY: Tigers can help young guns to fire

LEICESTER Tigers are running a four-day rugby course for aspiring youngsters in Spalding this April.

Spalding RFC’s Memorial Field will play host to the Guinness Premiership side’s sessions, which run from April 2 to April 5 at a cost of £125 per person.

The courses are suitable for both experienced players who wish to develop further and those who are new to the game, with players from under-9 to under-16 eligible.

Under the watchful eye of the Tigers’ community coaches, each player will receive a full week’s training where they can expect to play up to five hours of rugby each and every day.

Every player will receive a hot meal and drinks each day, plus a ticket for a Leicester home game and free membership to the Junior Tigers Club, as well as a rugby ball, drinks bottle and T-shirt.

Tigers’ Community Manager Scott Clarke said: “This will be a great opportunity for young players to work with some of the best coaches in the country to really improve their game and maximise their potential.”

All courses are attended by a full-time first-aider, Tigers coaches are CRB cleared and their work replicates that of the club’s Elite Player Development Group – which identifies players with the potential to play rugby at the elite level and gives them early access to Academy coaching.
