RUGBY: Town break duck with Kettering win

Spalding RFC finally secured their first Midlands One East victory of the season as they saw off Kettering 27-10 at the Memorial Field.

Having suffered eight defeats on the trot, the Saturday success doesn’t quite lift Town off the bottom of the table – but they’re now within striking distance of relegation rivals Loughborough and Peterborough.

After the game, Spalding skipper Harry Sharman took to Twitter to say: “That is what Spalding RFC is all about. Fighting for each other all the way. Very proud skipper tonight.”

In Midlands Three East (South), Deepings’ home game with Northampton Mens Own was postponed, while in Midlands Four East (South) Bourne beat Stamford College Old Boys 30-10 at Milking Nook Drove.
