RUGBY: Spirited Spalding beaten by leaders

Spalding RFC suffered a 38-19 home defeat to Midlands One East leaders Old Northamptonians on Saturday.

Town drop back into the bottom two as a result, with Peterborough picking up a bonus point in their defeat against Matlock.

Fellow relegation rivals Kettering also picked up a shock win over Peterborough Lions, meaning Spalding are now five points from safety.
