RUGBY: NLD break for Spalding

Spalding RFC v Southwell RFC (Saturday, 2.15pm): Town take a break from their league troubles as they turn their attention to the NLD Shield.

Visitors Southwell are a mid-table Midlands Three East (North) side – making the hosts hot favourites for the quarter final duel.

Having being battered 67-5 on Saturday, Spalding skipper Harry Sharman is demanding a response. He said: “We have to bounce back from what can only be described as an appalling display.

“Saturday was the worst team performance I have been involved with in ten years here. We owe the fans, coaches, and most of all ourselves a performance.”
