RUGBY: Matlock trip holds no fear for Town

A tricky trip to fifth-placed Matlock should hold no fears for Spalding RFC, according to skipper Harry Sharman.

Town, who saw their three-game winning run ended by Bedford last weekend, visit Derbyshire some 34 points behind their hosts in Midlands One East.

But Sharman reckons his side can match Matlock on Saturday (2.15pm), despite a dismal recent record against them.

He said: “We’ve not done well against them in the past and it’s a difficult game.

“The conditions will suit them too, they tend to do better at this time of year.

“But I’m quietly confident. We performed brilliantly against Bedford last weekend and there’s no reason why we can’t get a result.

“We’ve got a tough month ahead, but I believe in this team.”

Town hope to field the same squad that were edged out 25-19 by Bedford last Saturday.
