RUGBY: Grammar lads make French connection
Spalding Grammar School’s under-16 rugby team are back on home soil after enjoying a successful rugby tour to Paris.
The students took part in a five-day trip, which included playing against two local sides, as well as travelling up the iconic Eiffel Tower and going on a tour of the Stade de France – which plays host to the French national rugby and football teams.
In their first match, played amid horrendous wet conditions, the Spalding Grammar team adapted to the variation in the laws and were unfortunate to draw the match 19-19.
The second game saw the students outplayed by a much stronger and developed side and they eventually lost by a convincing 32-10 margin.
Spalding Grammar teacher Chris Crane said: “It was a really enjoyable trip and the students got to learn a lot about the French culture and a different style of playing rugby.”
