FORMER Spalding RFC player Wes Cope enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime appearance at Twickenham last weekend.
Cope, who left Town last summer for National Two League side Old Albanians, was named among the replacements for Hertfordshire in the final of the Bill Beaumont Cup at the home of rugby.
Lancashire ran out 32-23 winners in a cracking clash, with Cope coming off the bench.
Hertfordshire compete in the highest level of county rugby, so to be named in their squad was a real achievement for the ex-Spalding man.
Cope’s club side Old Albanians cemented a fifth-placed finish out of a 16 clubs in National Two last season. That places them among the top 50 clubs in England.
Cope first featured for Spalding as a 16-year-old and was part of the side that won promotion to Midlands One East under Harry Sharman.
