Spalding RFC jumped out of the Midlands One East drop zone with a massive 38-34 win at relegation rivals Kettering on Saturday, while Deepings were hammered at Daventry and Bourne picked up a victory at Aylestone Athletic.
Ash Anker, Kevin Childs, Harry Sharman and Rob Lucas all ran in scores for Town, while Dave Hankinson was in top form with the boot.
A stunning first period had seen Spalding take a 30-8 advantage in the second half, but they had to stave off a spirited comeback from the hosts.
With five games to go, the success gives Town renewed hope of avoiding the drop after jumping above Peterborough and Market Bosworth in the table.
In Midlands Three East (South), Deepings went down 42-0 at Daventry, while Bourne edged out Aylestone 21-19 in Midlands Four East (South).
