Spalding RFC returned to winning ways with a comfortable 22-0 victory over Midlands Two East (N) basement boys Melton Mowbray on Saturday.

All of the points came in the first half at the Memorial Field, with James West, Rob Lucas and Harry Harrison (2) all going over for tries.

Former favourite Wes Cope also made a return for Town, making it a fine day all round for the promotion hopefuls, who remain 11 points behind leaders Belgrave after they crushed Kesteven 44-0.

Meanwhile, Deepings were drubbed 95-0 at Vipers in Midlands Three East (S).
