Spalding RFC are without five key players as they make the tricky trip to Towcestrians on Saturday (3pm).
Dave Hankinson, Kev Childs, Rhys Thomson, Callum Thomson and the injured Ash Anker, who all featured in last weekend’s huge win over Kettering, are all unavailable for selection.
With five Midlands One East games to go – including mouth-watering clashes with relegation rivals Peterborough, Market Bosworth and Loughborough, coach Niall Thomson admits Saturday’s game won’t define Town’s season.
But he’s challenged the players coming in – which should include youngsters Pat Shire, Harry Winch and Harry Harrison – to prove their worth and clinch another eye-catching success.
Thomson said: “This was always going to be a tough game – and if I’m honest we hadn’t targeted it as a potential win with the bottom three still to play.
“But with so many players out the squad players have a chance to show what they can do.
“For 50 minutes we played some great attacking rugby against a good Kettering side and another win isn’t out of the question.”
