TULIPS: Trio sign on as Spalding improve

WISBECH TOWN 1 SPALDING UNITED 1

RICHARD Scott snapped up three more signings after this much-improved showing on Saturday.

Dan Westwood's second strike in as many games earned the Tulips a richly-deserved friendly draw with the Fenmen - but the new trio of captures was perhaps the bigger coup for the player/boss.

Striker Ian Dunn, left back Leon Pugh and keeper Martyn Margarson all put pen to paper, while Gary Pawson and winger Andy White are expected to follow suit tonight.

But Scott does face something of a keeper crisis, with Margarson ruled out for two months with a torn abductor muscle and fellow stopper Aaron Bellairs deciding to return to Yaxley.

"Overall I'm pretty happy with how things are going so far,"said the Spalding supremo.

"I was pretty disappointed with our showing last Tuesday (a 2-2 draw at Burton Park Wanderers), but this was a bit more like it.

"Everything is a little disjointed with so many players being used, but we're getting there slowly."

The ex-Peterborough United professional is hoping to draft in keeper Leigh Overton for tonight's trip to Deeping Rangers (7.45pm).

Scott has a starting eleven in mind, but also has a group of 13 players that he is still to run the rule over.
