TIGERS: Wakes in ambitious bid to sign Nimmo
BOURNE Town have slapped in an ambitious seven-day notice of approach for Holbeach United ace Liam Nimmo.
The striker, who has fired nine goals for the Tigers this season, is now free to discuss terms with Wakes boss Martyn Lakin.
But Tigers player/manager Shaun Keeble is adamant that his prized-asset will be staying at Carter's Park.
He said: "As far as I know he's not interested in the move, but he can speak to them if he wishes.
"They are entitled to put in the approach and have done nothing wrong.
"I can't see why he'd want to leave though, especially with the way we have been playing of late.
"Liam is a massive part of my plans and I hope he decides to stay put."
Nimmo is a former Bourne player, after then boss Neil Thorpe swooped to take him from the Tigers at the start of last season.
The move didn't really work out, as he only managed 90 minutes in claret and blue - all in a 8-2 home humbling to St Ives.
The horror display prompted the goal-machine to make a hasty move back to Holbeach, and he has remained at the club ever since.
But the the Wakes are a much stronger outfit under Lakin and have made great strides this season.
Bourne have previous when it comes to prising players away from Carter's Park too, with both Adam Jackson and Stacy Cartwright jumping ship over the summer.
Holbeach have already beaten the Wakes twice this season, with Nimmo scoring a brace in a 4-1 home success back in September.
The Tigers wrapped up a league double last week, and sit eight points clear of their Lincolnshire rivals in the UCL Premier Division standings.
