TIGERS: Hit back to end barren run

RAUNDS TOWN 1 (Rice 6) HOLBEACH UNITED 3 (Brooks pen 22, Nimmo 44 & 56)

SHAUN Keeble is targeting a top ten finish after leading his side to a first win in over a month.

The 12th-placed Tigers found themselves behind early on, but a Lewis Brooks penalty and Liam Nimmo's double put lowly Raunds to the sword.

Although his side didn't quite find their best form, the player/boss was delighted to taste that winning feeling again.

Keeble said: "It's nice to finally end our losing run and get a win under our belts.

"I was annoyed that we conceded another early goal, but we came back well and deserved the win. It could have been more too, but we seemed to take our foot off the pedal a little.

"We've got plenty of winnable games left so the target is to finish as high as possible. The top ten has to be the aim and we're more than capable of finishing well."

Having lost five UCL Premier Division games on the spin, nothing but a win would do for Keeble's charges - but they made a poor start.

Raunds were fielding a new-look side and one of their debutantes, Paul Rice, fired the hosts into a sixth-minute lead.

Holbeach kept their heads though and hauled themselves level on 22 minutes.

A Jonny Allen cross picked out Nimmo in the middle. He tried to turn his man but was tripped inside the box for a clear penalty.

Full-back Lewis Brooks made no mistake from the spot.

Not content to play a supporting role, Nimmo then got himself on the score-sheet.

Allen was again the provider, crossing from the right for the goal-machine to nod home at the back post just before the break.

The decisive third goal arrived early in the second half, that man Nimmo latching onto an Alex Beck cross to notch his 20th goal of another extremely productive season.

At the other end, keeper James Doughty was largely redundant for the majority of the game.

With nine games to go, Holbeach are six points off a place in the top ten.

Tigers: Doughty, Thompson, Fairweather (Elston), Brooks, Warfield, Allen, J Sedlan, Joof, Parker, Beck (Lambe), Nimmo. Not used: Keeble.

Saturday - Tigers v Wellingborough Town (3pm).
