TIGERS: First victory but new boss won't get carried away
HOLBEACH UNITED 2 KING'S LYNN TOWN RES 0
JOHN Chand tasted victory for the first time in his Holbeach reign - but refused to get too carried away.
Goals from new boys Jake Mason and Csnor Lazslo were enough to see off the Linnets' second string at Carter's Park on Tuesday night.
But it was the showing - and subsequent signing - of ex-Scunthorpe striker Josh Thomas that had the Tigers boss purring.
Experienced midfielder Mark Angel and Leicester City scholar Claudiu Hoban also impressed.
Chand said: "It's nice to get that first win out of the way for sure.
"Let's be honest, it doesn't mean much at this stage but losing can become an unwanted habit.
"I was relatively happy with the showing and I have to say that Josh was awesome.
"Mark brings something extra to the camp and his experience rubs off on others, while Hoban is neat and tidy on the ball.
"Hopefully Mark will sign on for the season, I feel he has plenty to offer still."
Two men Chand inherited - Ben Crane and Matt Warfield - also caught the eye for Holbeach, who took the lead through Lazslo.
An Angel set-play led the the decisive second, Mason volleying home smartly.
Another trialist, defender Jacob Webster, is expected to feature in one of Holbeach's two weekend friendly fixtures.
They host Wisbech Town on Friday night (7.45pm), before welcoming Leicester side Ellis Town on Saturday (3pm).
