TIGERS: Boss eyes perfect month

Holbeach Utd v Wellingborough Town (Saturday, 3pm): JOHN Chand wants his Tigers to complete an unbeaten January as they approach a pivotal four-day period.

Holbeach have won all three of their 2012 fixtures as they bid to secure at least third place in the UCL Premier Division.

Victory over the Doughboys this weekend would go some way to cementing that, before Chand and his charges travel to Bourne Town for a Lincs FA Senior Trophy semi-final on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Having seen last Saturday’s trip to Daventry United postponed, the Wellingborough clash will be the Tigers’ first outing in a fortnight.

Chand said: “We’re really ready for the game, it was strange having no football last weekend.

“This will be our first game with Wellingborough this season and I know they’re good enough to beat anyone on their day. If we can get wins against them and Bourne, it’d be an unbeaten month, which is always nice.”

Key duo Mitch Griffiths and Ashley Stevens are suspended for Saturday’s game, while Wes Lewis also misses out. But Paul Goodhand is fit to return.

Chand does admit that he’s likely to go back in the transfer market for “two or three” new faces before the end of the season.

It'd be good to see another big crowd at Carter's Park on Saturday. Also, this month, we have Spalding at home on a saturday afternoon. I remember last time Spalding were in our league that fixture was played on a friday night and attracted a bumper crowd - it would have been nice to see a repeat of that arrangement - although I will still be there on the Saturday - of course!
