TIGERS: Barren run continues at Cogenhoe

COGENHOE UTD 2 (Nedimovic 38, Herbert 72) HOLBEACH UTD 1 (Nichols 23)

SHAUN Keeble insists no alarm bells are ringing at Carter's Park despite seeing his side extend their winless streak in the league.

The Tigers are without a league win in over a month – a run that spans six games.

That looked set to change when Ross Nichols fired home a stunning opener on Saturday, only for Cogenhoe to turn the game on its head.

Holbeach player/boss Keeble said: "We're not panicking – if anything, our performances of late have been very good.

"That little bit of luck is missing at the moment. That will all change if we can get a win under our belts.

"Credit to Cogenhoe, they are a decent side.

"But we played very well and I think a draw would have been a fair result."

Holbeach made the better start at a soggy Brafield Road, with Danny Hussey firing against the bar and Omar Joof seeing an effort cleared off the line.

The pressure eventually told on 23 minutes, Nichols firing home a sensational left-footed effort from 25 yards.

But the lead only lasted 15 minutes, tall striker Zac Nedimovic heading home a controversial equaliser at the back post.

The Tigers felt he had climbed all over Bobby Patterson – but the goal stood.

Tommy Treacher came within inches of restoring the lead after the break, but his 20-yard effort fizzed past the post.

Both sides were struggling to create clear-cut chances, but the hosts managed to net a scrappy winner.

Damon Herbert made poor contact with a cross at the back post – but his sliced effort deceived James Doughty and found its way into the net.

Tigers: Doughty, Elston (Allen), Patterson, Hussey, Jackson, Joof, Nichols, Warfield (Broom), Cartwright, Treacher, Piper (Nimmo). Not used: Coupland, Keeble.

The Tigers have no fresh injury worries ahead of tonight's trip to Yaxley (7.45pm).

Liam Nimmo could return to the starting line-up but Mark Thompson is still out.
