TABLE TENNIS: Lead duo maintain unbeaten records

With Christmas rapidly approaching just two teams remain undefeated in the Spalding and District League (sponsored by Vital Recruitment).

In Division One, Bladerunners caught up on a postponed match and took a firm grip on the top of the division.

Facing Defenders, they went home with a clean sweep victory under their belt and a lead of six at the top of the table.

Match of the night was Blade’s Dave Gibson against Jean White, which lasted a full 45 minutes – not surprising with their rankings almost identical as well as any handicapping.

JDM Allsorts moved ahead of Defenders following a 4-1 win over Haz Beans on a Roll.

Haz Beans took the first, but that was the extent of their points – although JDM’s Pete Budd was forced to come from behind to beat Colin Vertigan.

In Division Two, unbeaten Dark Knights faced Nomads, whose 100 per cent record is the opposite.

With that background there could be only one outcome and it duly arrived, as Knights’ Richard Matthews and Paddy Palgrave took all of the points.

They once again head the table thanks to that win and Insidious dropping points to Castle Sports.

The singles were shared with all four, Clive Shardlow, Gary Simpson, Reece Kerry and Mike Mulligan, winning one game in the singles.

However, Sports’ Kerry and Mulligan took the doubles to tip the result their way.
