SNOOKER: Huge Holbeach B win ends streak

HOLBEACH B blew the Spalding and District League Division Three title race wide open by ending Services B’s seven-game winning streak.

Services, who hadn’t lost since early November, were seen off 4-2 by their nearest rivals, who are now just seven points off the summit.

Phil Coaten (O7) trousered a 23 break for Holbeach, who also had Barry Haynes (R7) and Neil Harvey (O7) on wining form.

The best break in the third tier went to Boundary C’s Craig Stevenson, who reeled off a 33 in a 5-1 success at Bourne SC C.

Meanwhile, it’s getting tight at the top in Spalding and Division One, with BSC D staking their claim for the title last week.

The Spalding side moved within two points of leaders Pyramid F with a big 5-1 win over Services C.

Martin Spencer’s (O7) 26 break was the highlight for a BSC side that have now won five on the bounce.

That result piles the pressure on Pyramid F, who were handed a 4-2 home beating by Holbeach A – despite an incredible break from Jason Green (O56).

The Bourne maestro plundered a fine 81, but was one of just two frame winners for the leaders.

Third-placed Donington C were also beaten. They went down 5-1 at Pyramid D, with a 25 clearance from Pyramid D’s Marcus Hamilton the highlight.

In Division Two, Boundary A extended their lead to five points after edging out Pyramid C 4-2 in a match that produced three black ball games.

Second-placed Holbeach D came a cropper 4-2 at Boundary B. Jackson Andrews (R7) and Don McLellan (R14) won pivotal black ball frames for the Deepings side.

Towards the foot, Services B ended a five-game losing spell with a fine 5-1 victory over Consti B. Tim Nash (O28) pocketed a cool 24 break for the strugglers.

There are new leaders in Division Four after Services D crashed 5-1 to Bourne SC B on their own baize.

Jason Bates (O77) made a 35 break for a Bourne side that still find themselves in the bottom three.

Consti J are the new leaders, having dispatched Gosberton C 5-1, with Stuart Davies (O14) making a 22 clearance.

KO Cup: Consti G 3 Tulips A 2.
