SNOOKER: Jason makes hay as Tulips take top spot
JASON Haytree fired Tulips C to the top of Spalding and District League Division Three last week as the roller-coaster season draws ever closer to its conclusion.
Cue ace Haytree (O35) guided the Spalding side to a nail-biting 4-2 success over Consti G with a pivotal break of 38 and a cracking 22 clearance in his win over Nigel West (scr).
Frame triumphs for Luke Arons (O21) and Chris Harvey (O7) helped seal the result.
They are a point clear of Whittlesey A, who dispatched previous leaders BSC F.
Wins for Marc Jones (O21), Beverley Hipwell (scr), Malc Bruce (scr) and Trevor Hipwell (O7) secured a resounding 5-1 victory for Whittlesey.
At the foot, Gosberton C moved off the bottom with a cracking 5-1 return from their fixture with Tulips B.
In the top tier, Pyramid F continue to look a solid bet for the title. They moved a hefty ten points clear after handing Services C a 4-2 home reverse.
Three Bourne players made handsome contributions, with Jason Green (O56), Spencer Dawkins (O35) and Dave Pearson (scr) scoring 38, 25 and 22 respectively.
Nigel Cherry (O7) replied with offerings of 22 and 21, but Services were edged out.
Second-placed Pyramid C lost ground after a 4-2 home humbling by Crowland C. A 23 break from Jamie Hunns (O7) was they best break on offer by any player in the clash.
Yet another Bourne side, Pyramid C, are a point back in third after a whitewash win over Crowland D.
Lee Davies (O21) and James Sharpe (O35) pocketed breaks of 29 and 27 respectively for the title hopefuls.
Towards the foot, BSC D picked up a vital 4-2 success over Whittlesey B to move well clear of the bottom two.
A 34 break from Chris Dunmore (O21) was the highlight of the tie.
It's all to play for in Division Two after Long Sutton A took the derby honours with Long Sutton B to keep the title face well and truly alive.
The A team are now just three points behind their foes, thanks to wins from Adam Barwell (O42), Sean Swinburn (O42), Matt Smith (O49) and Stuart Atkin (O35).
Services D will be kicking themselves after suffering a 6-0 home crushing at the hands of lowly Consti B.
A reversal of the scoreline would have hauled the Spalding side level at the top.
Consti F's slim title chances also look to have faded, following their 5-1 beating by mid-table Holbeach A.
Bobby White (O7) starred with a superb 31 break for the victorious away side.
Meanwhile, Adam Twigg's (scr) 32 break helped Gosberton B move out of the bottom two with a 5-1 away day triumph at BSC B.
It's all over by the shouting in Division Four, as Q@Southside moved a hefty 11 points clear by brushing Consti D aside 5-1.
But there is a real battle developing below them, as three teams scrap for second place.
Jason Bates' (O70) 30 break helped second-placed Bourne SC A see off club rivals Bourne SC B 5-1, and they are two clear of Hillside.
The Holbeach Hurn side also reeled off a 5-1 win, with BSC E the fifth team they have beaten in six games.
