Youngsters from Welland Yacht Club got their hands on some silverware at its junior sailing awards evening.

Joseph Twigg collected two trophies to mark an impressive season. He won the Cadet Cup and Talents Trophy, with the latter awarded to Welland’s most promising young sailor.

Also among the awards was Sean Agar, who earned the Maclaren Crew Trophy, handed to the best crew member of the season. Emma Agar picked up the Under-10s Trophy, after being named the top young sailor in that age group.

Nine junior sailors also collected certificates for the RYA stages they completed throughout the season.

RYA stage one certificates went to Thomas Barnes, Aaron McKay, Casey McKay and Milly Hastings, with RYA stage two awards given to Hannah Nickols, Sean Agar and James Twigg. Joseph Twigg, Emma Agar and Niall Holland collected RYA stage three certificates. Earlier in the day, Ros Nickols won the Carl Bilbie Pursuit Trophy.
