REPORT: Tigers 2 Northampton Spencer 1
HOLBEACH UTD 2 (Deakin OG 29, Beck 59) NORTHAMPTON SPENCER 1 (Haycock 46)
THE form book went out the window as Holbeach ended their season on a high note on Saturday.
Shaun Keeble's side put paid to an eight-game winless streak at Carter's Park - against a Spencer side that hadn't lost in the same period of time.
Liam Nimmo's strike deflected in off Alex Deakin for the Tigers' opener, before Lewis Haycock rocked the hosts with a leveller.
But Alex Beck struck on the hour to ensure that Holbeach finished a disappointing season with a victory.
Holbeach dominated the first half, with Beck forcing Spencer stopper Pete Smith into a smart early save.
Nimmo and Lewis Brooks were narrowly off target as the Tigers continued to press.
The pressure finally told on 29 minutes, Nimmo firing an Omar Joof cross in off the unlucky Deakin.
More chances came and went as Beck and Craig Parker spurned opportunities before the break. It was to prove costly, as Haycock restored parity moments after the break.
Holbeach continued to press though and Nimmo saw a goal ruled out.
The pressure finally told as Nimmo laid on the winner for strike partner Beck.
Tigers: Doughty, Thompson, Warfield, Fairweather, Elston, Joof, Allen, Brooks, Parker, Beck. Nimmo. Not used: Shepherd, Keeble, Lester, Barnes.
