RANGERS: Desborough drubbing downs Deeping

DESBOROUGH TOWN 4 (Kitching pen 7 & 21, Mitchell 15, Randall 45) DEEPING RANGERS 1 (Beck 25): BASEMENT boys Desborough delivered one of the shocks of the UCL Premier Division season so far as they destroyed Deeping on Saturday.

Four first-half goals stunned Rangers at Waterworks Field, rendering Alex Beck’s spectacular debut goal as pure consolation.

The victory is only a third in the league for Ar Tarn, who hadn’t registered three points since early December.

Desborough needed just seven minutes to take the lead, with Nick Jackson giving away a penalty for a foul on Ryan Morgan. Dan Kitching made no mistake from the spot.

It was 2-0 on the quarter hour, Jon Mitchell turning home Eddie Mills’ cultured cross.

The hosts were in dreamland six minutes later as Kitching bagged his second from a Danny Rogers pull back.

Beck, signed from Boston Town last week, marked his bow with a sensational bicycle kick soon after as Deeping threatened a comeback.

Ex-Bourne Town keeper Aaron Bellairs then denied Steve Julian a second, before Desborough restored their three-goal cushion through Adam Randall’s powerful header.

It went from bad to worse for Deeping after the break, with defender Julian sent off 15 minutes from time.

Dave Burton-Jones did test Bellairs with a dipping drive, but it was Desborough’s day.

Rangers: Doughty, Evans, Jackson, Tinkler, Julian, Weston, Brader (Holt), Burton-Jones, Beck, Heron (Ginty), Moreman (Gilbert).

Saturday: Deeping v Irchester United (3pm).
