MARTIAL ARTS: Ben’s blitz bags silver

Silver medal: Ben Watson

Silver medal: Ben Watson

BEN Watson produced a storming display as he picked up silver medal at the Black Belt Inc British Championships.

Representing Storm UK, who train at Holbeach Community Centre, the blue belt qualified with enough points to enter the high-profile Bristol event.

Having only trained with the mixed martial arts club for 18 months – and just a year of that has been spent in the fight team – Watson was something of an underdog. But he battled his way through several rounds to reach the final, finishing in second place.

Anybody looking to follow in Watson’s footsteps can join in with Storm’s training sessions, held on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Holbeach Community Centre (6pm-7.30pm).

Call Wayne Pearl on 07947 932174 for more information. You can also find them under Storm Uk. Holbeach on Facebook.
