Talented teenager Ricky Ivatt has made a real impact in his fledgling karting career.
He’s had a terrific season after only taking up 125cc 4-stroke junior karts in April last year. He’s been racing at Tallington for Bourne Kart Club and Wisbech.
In an outstanding season he has won the points championship and Buckminster meeting trophy, become Grand Prix champion and champion of champions, and was third in the British Championship at Wisbech.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Ricky, of Shepeau Stow, is excelling with the accelerator. He comes from a racing family background – grandad Mick and uncle David are stock car drivers.
Ricky is following in dad Lee Ivatt’s footsteps. Lee is a former banger racing driver and started karting in the 250cc class July this year.
And watch out for another Ivatt coming through – nine-year old younger brother Lewis has his own 90cc go kart and will be making his debut soon.
Ricky’s proud parents expect him to progress into the senior class next year.
