GYMNASTICS: School team are floor and vault regional champs
SPALDING Grammar School's Under-19 Mixed team became champions at the regional vault and floor championship.
The floor routines went without any problems with James Booth and Laura Martin producing strong performances.
On the vault, Emma Ringrose, Becky Nightingale and Edward Booth showed their strength with James Booth being faultless.
The team scored an impressive 66.4, which proved too much for the other schools.
The regional champions will next be in competition in the National Schools' Finals at Stoke-on-Trent on the April 27, where they hope to produce another strong team performance.
Spalding Grammar School PE teacher Chris Crane said: "A special thank-you is needed for Christine Ringrose, who has spent the last two months getting the team into shape and ensuring their success on the local scene."
It has been a busy two terms for the school's gymnasts.
Last December they swept the board in an open school competition.
Edward Booth won gold in the under-13 competition, James Booth did the same in the under-19 boys' event with Jack Royle winning silver, and Emma Ringrose won gold in the under-19 girls' competition.
There was also success in the under-19 mixed team event with gold for their floor routines and vaults.
