FOOTBALL: Tulips and Tigers handed heavy losses

SPALDING United were beaten 3-1 at Sheffield FC on Saturday, while Holbeach United were thrashed 4-1 by Newport Pagnell at Carter's Park.

Matt Roney (6), Steve Woolley (16) and Brian Cusworth (75) struck for Sheffield, with Stu King (90) grabbing a consolation.

Elsewhere at the bottom, Ben Garrick struck a hat-trick to fire Lincoln United to a 4-0 win over Quorn.

The Tulips remain five points from safety as a result.

In the UCL Premier Division, skipper Jason Sedlan fired the Tigers into a 25th-minute lead.

But braces from Vinny Shrieves and Darren Lynch eased Pagnell home.

Another frontman firing a double was Deeping's Ash Stevens, as he saved his side from a shock loss at Rothwell Corinthians.

Sam Johnson's (12) had Rothwell ahead at the break and they appeared on course for a much-needed victory when Bobby Drain (65) added the second.

But Stevens had other ideas, coming off the bench to net twice in the last 20 minutes.
