CRICKET: Sutton topple leaders

A STUNNING display from Long Sutton saw South Lincs and Border Division One leaders Boston put to the sword.

Barry Stanway was the hero for Sutton, returning majestic figures of 6-33 from 12 overs as the leaders managed just 142-9.

A confident reply from Phil Oldfield's side never looked like faltering, and they reached their target for the loss of six wickets, and with two overs to spare.

Chris Booth (46) got Sutton off to a great start, while assured knocks from Jon Fisher (12no) and Paul Deans (22no) guided them home.

It was also an excellent week for Moulton Harrox, as they bagged a much-needed win.

Moulton's victory was by the narrowest of margins, as they clung on to a five run win over Lindum.

They posted 160-6 batting first, but limited the Lincoln side to 155-8 in reply.

Elsewhere, there was more misery for Bourne 2nd, as they slumped to a ninth defeat from nine games.

Gareth Evison struck a superb 82 against Sleaford 2nd, but Bourne's 161-5 wasn't enough.

Spalding Town made a swift return to the top of Division Two table by seeing off Oakham 2nd.

Not for the first time this season, Ansar Hussain was the stand-out performer for Town.

He made a telling knock of 67 as Spalding chased down Oakham 2nd's 157 for the loss of just five wickets.

Previous leaders Skegness were not in action, and have a game in hand on Matt Hendry's side.

Market Deeping 2nd were another side to pick up a win, Karl Green's 5-38 helping them see off Welby.

Meanwhile, Spalding 2nd won the big derby in Division Three.

A defiant ninth-wicket stand between Thomas Bristow (42no) and Kev Nottingham (17no) got Town to a respectable 164-8.

Moulton Harrox Sunday faltered in their reply, Mick East and Dav Naghen snaring three wickets apiece as they were skittled out for 138.

Oliver Maltby top scored for Moulton with 32.

Elsewhere, Matt Bull's fine 62 helped Long Sutton 2nd clinch a seven-run win over Timberlands.

James Wright (4-32) restricted Timberlands' reply, with Liam Hargrave's 63 in vain.
