BOWLS: Spalding Under-25s’ emphatic double rink win
Spalding IBC Under 25 double rink team are through to the next round of this national competition after an emphatic win against Erewash.
The home rink of Charlene Leuty, Jordan Philpott, Ashley Caress and skip Calvin Leutyled all the way.
Erewash conceded after 20 ends with the score 35-8.
The away rink of Ryan Huskisson, Martin Duncan,Matthew Whyers and skip Martin Spencer also led throughout the game and were only on the 16th end – leading 17-11 – when the match was conceded.
Next round is against Rugby on Sunday, December 9 (10am).
• Spalding’s friendly squad beat a strong Sleaford team 125-90 at home on Saturday. Top rink was Chris Broughton, Brian Skelton, Gerald Horner and skip Lily Drawbridge. Captain was Roger Perkins.
• Over 60s County league: Spalding lost 104-83 at home to Boston last Thursday.
Spalding led at one stage, but fell just short towards the end to claim four points out of a possible 18.
Spalding’s top rink was D Marriott, G Clark, R Perkins and M Elding.
