BILLIARDS: Ton-up Rob keeps hot streak going
ROB Childs continued his purple patch in Spalding and District Billiards League with a scintillating 103 break against Consti A.
The Crowland B maestro, who plays off a massive O190 handicap, was in sensational form in his tight tussle with Lindsay Porter (R80).
Having already reeled off respectable scores of 58, 43 and 32, Childs plundered a ton and then a 32 clearance to edge the frame 200-189 and help his side secure a 5-2 success overall.
However, Childs’ fine effort is still some 23 shy of Mick Johnson’s 126, which is the top break so far this season.
Meanwhile, Pyramid B continue to wobble at the summit. The leaders, who won their first 13 league games of the season, were handed a third-successive loss.
This time it was fellow club side Pyramid A who knocked them off 5-2, with Brian Kendall (R50) sealing the win with a super 42 clearance.
Consti C were also on fine form, as they crushed Holbeach C 7-0. Veteran ace Hugh Pinner (O170) made breaks of 49, 44 and 28 in vain for Holbeach.
