A SIZZLING 76 break from Crowland cue ace Rob Childs was the highlight of the latest round of Spalding and District League action.

Childs, who plays off an O190 handicap, also pocketed scores of 48, 37, 32 and 21 as he saw off Pyramid A’s Brian Kendall (R50) 200-131.

The virtuoso showing failed to lift his Crowland B team-mates though, as Bourne duo Eric Wyer (R40) and John Twell (R60) won to secure a 5-2 victory, with the former bagging a 24 break.

Another player on fine form was Donington’s Sid Shaw (scr). He reeled off a fantastic 61 break in a 200-170 success over Consti C’s Pat Bowman (R110).

It proved to be the catalyst for a 5-2 away victory, with Norman Gookey’s (R50) final frame win over John Walker (R100) the clincher. Gookey trousered a 27 break in the process.

Consti’s only frame was picked up by John Batterham (R120), which was good enough for two points.

The big winners of the week were Holbeach B, who whitewashed basement boys Gosberton 7-0.

Emphatic frame victories came from Chris Chamberlain (R80), Ashley Bunn (R90) and Nigel Ward (R100), with Bunn managing a cool 20 break.

Meanwhile, Bob Adams (R30) helped himself to a 27 break as Consti A closed to within three points of third-placed BSC, who they beat 5-2.

Pete Tingle (R100) was the other Consti frame winner.
