BILLIARDS: Rob's 122 is season's best
ROB Childs cracked the biggest break of the season in Spalding and District Billiards League to date with a scintillating unfinished 122.
The Crowland B player also managed scores of 58, 44 and 36 was won a heavyweight clash with Consti B's Mick Johnson 200-75.
Childs has racked up the season's top break on three other ocassions, in 2000/01, 2004/05 and 2005/06.
However, he has some way to go to if he wants to topple the leagues all-time record.
Roy Chapman holds that accolade – an amazing 260 back in the 1991/92 season.
Childs' fine individual effort was all his team had to show from the fixture, as Consti B ran out 5-2 winners.
Elsewhere, Jason Bates put in another fine showing for Pyramid A against league leaders Pyramid B.
Breaks of 49, 41, 38 and 31 were also in vain as the leaders edged the all club affair 5-2 to move two points clear at the top.
Hugh Pinner also excelled last week, racking up quality breaks of 75, 52 (twice) and 40, but BSC lost.
At the bottom, basement side Gosberton B recorded just their second win of the season, 5-2 over Consti C.
The win still leaves Gosberton B 19.5 points adrift.
Meanwhile, Pyramid C edged a tight game with Holbeach 4-3.
Oli Player (R90) and Max Ayliff (R70) notched good breaks of 31 and 27 respectively for the Bourne side.
Tony Blanchard's fine 40 break ensured Holbeach took something from the game.
Results: Pyramid C 4 Holbeach 3 (531-574); Crowland B 2 Consti B 5 (412-475); Consti A 2 Gosberton A 5 (564-577); Whittlesey 4 Crowland A 3 (542-565); BSC 3 Donington 4 (534-527); Gosberton C 5 Consti C 2 (594-555); Pyramid A 2 Pyramid B 5 (502-559).
