BILLIARDS: Pinner pockets a dazzling 139

BIG BREAK: Hugh Pinner

BIG BREAK: Hugh Pinner

Hugh Pinner plundered a stunning 139 break in the Spalding and District League’s Billiards Shield last week.

The Holbeach USC A veteran, who plays off an O170 handicap, made the top ton in a 586-534 victory over Consti D.

It’s the biggest break of the current season so far, surpassing Rob Childs’ 97.

Staying in the Shield, that man Childs (O190) was on-song with a 50 break – but his Crowland B side were seen off 552-464 by league leaders Holbeach B.

It was a good week all-round for Holbeach, who extended their advantage at the summit to ten points with a 7-0 victory over Consti B. That was despite the best efforts of Mick Johnson (O160), who nailed a 50 break.

Consti C also won 5-2 over Crowland B to stay in the hunt, despite Childs’ 65 break.

Results: Consti C 5 Crowland B 2 (594-494); Consti A 2 Holbeach A 5 (516-518); Holbeach B 7 Consti B 0 (600-572); Pyramid B 2 Sutton 5 (530-586); Donington 7 Pyramid A 0 (600-552).

Shield: Holbeach A 586 Consti D 534; Holbeach B 552 Crowland B 464.
