Consti A won the game of the week in Spalding and District Billiards League to keep their title hopes very much alive.

They saw off high-flying rivals Pyramid B 5-2 in Bourne, with Robert Adams (R40) and Lindsay Porter (R40) the crucial frame winners.

Porter (R40) made breaks of 30 and 20 in the deciding final frame to keep Consti third in the standings, just 7.5 points behind leaders Long Sutton.

Martin O’Connor (R10) was the sole winner for Pyramid, while team-mate Maurice Phillipson (R70) made a 22 break.

Consti B remain second, one point clear of their friendly foes, having edged out Donington 4-3 in the closest clash of the week.

John Keeton (R30) and Steve Spencer (R100) were both winners for Consti B, but Jim Thompson’s (R30) 200-101 win over Mick Johnson (O160) helped the visitors shade the aggregate spoils.

As ever, Johnson shone despite the loss – making breaks of 45 and 32, while Keeton pocketed a fine 34.

Elsewhere, Hugh Pinner (O170) made breaks of 41, 35 and 29 for Holbeach B – but saw his side beaten 5-2 by Consti D.
