BILLIARDS: Consti C off to a flying start

Consti C roared to a perfect 7-0 success on the opening day of the Spalding and District Billiards League season.

Wins from Pat Bowman (R100), Jason Rose (R80) and John Walker (R100) guided Consti to the only whitewash win of the first round of fixtures, at the expense of Gosberton.

Fellow club side Consti B also enjoyed a strong start,edging out Long Sutton 5-2 in a top quality tussle.

Mick Johnson (O160) and John Keeton (R30) made breaks of 47 and 42 respectively en-route to frame wins, while Sutton’s Mick Cooper (O40) made a 37 break of his own.

An all-club affair between Holbeach B and Holbeach A also showcased some decent breaks. The B side prevailed 5-2 thanks to wins from Nigel Ward (R70) and Ashley Bunn (R60), but Hugh Pinner (O170) did pocket a 45 break in reply for the A team.

Elsewhere, John Clapton (R90) made a 30 break as Pyramid A beat Crowland B 5-2, while an unfinished 23 from Maurice Phillipson helped Pyramid B win 5-2 at Crowland A.

Donington and Consti A also made winnings starts, beating Consti D and Holbeach C respectively.

Consti D’s Stewart Davies (R20) made a cool 27 break.
