YOUNG guns from Nene Valley Harriers enjoyed a haul of 13 medals at the Keith Ward Open Indoor meet.

There were also an impressive nine personal best times clocked in Norfolk – with the multi-talented Nathan Smith leading the way.

The junior walked off with a quartet of first places, which came in the high jump (1.65m), long jump (5m), triple jump (10.09m) and the 60m hurdles (11.1secs), with all being PBs. He also managed third in the 60m sprint with another PB time of 8.2secs.

Another on winning form was senior David Bush, who collected a pair of wins in the hurdles (9.7secs) and sprint (7.7secs). Not done there, a PB put of 9.69m in the shot earned him second, while a third place in the long jump (5.25m) completed his medal haul.

Elsewhere, Emily Maltby – now an under-20 – enjoyed a welcome return to form following a lengthy illness-related lay-off.

She was second in the 60m sprint final (8.2secs) having run 8.1secs in the heats, before leaping a modest 4.59m in the long jump. That warmed her up nicely for a cracking 10.04m jump in her first-ever triple jump outing, which was good enough for victory.

In the same category, Natasha Segal was fourth in the 60m sprint final won by Maltby (8.74secs), having clocked 8.5secs in the heats. She followed that up with 4.29m in the long jump.

Fellow Harrier Helen Chapman picked up a fifth-placed finish in the U/17 sprint (8.6secs), while U/15 ace Jennifer Smith was delighted with her PB thrown of 6.17m in the shot.

Smith also collected third in the long jump (4.06m) and fourth in the sprint (9.2secs).
