WELLAND Yacht Club are focused on delivering another exciting season.
Building on the success of last year’s 60th year for the yacht club, the committee have put together a busy programme.
The 2010 season ended on a huge high for the club. Their 60th anniversary dinner dance at the South Holland centre was enjoyed by all.
The celebrations were followed by the club’s new open meeting _ the A1 Transport Open meeting. For its first year, the open meeting was a huge triumph, with a total of 17 boats – seven of which were visiting from other clubs – and good competition throughout the fleet.
In the end, the final result was only decided in the final race of the day. An open meeting has now been placed in the 2011 calendar.
It’s not all racing though, as the programme has a large variety of events to choose from. Whether members prefer racing for pleasure or just lazing about on the river, the club has plenty to offer.
Key dates and highlights for the season ahead are online at www.wellandyachtclub.co.uk.Club open day is on May 22.
With the season now under way, guests are always welcome – whether they are regular sailors or those interested in taking up sailing for the first time.
The clubhouse is well equipped with a licensed bar, kitchen and showers.
