Lesley Williams shot a super 71 to win the latest Sunday Medal in Spalding Golf Club’s ladies’ section.
Some 12 lady members entered the May 5 event, played in warm, sunny conditions, with Williams two shots clear of the rest.
Hannah Thorold (73) and Molly Davies (76) were second and third respectively.
Both Williams and Thorold saw their handicap cut by one as a result.
l A field of 28 ladies entered a medal event on May 8, with the 18-hole competition won by Bev Harpham (74). Second spot went to Olive Gooderson (75) ahead of Dianne Platt (76) in third.
Of the 28 entries, 21 went on to play another nine holes for the Mary Hendry Trophy, which is a gross competition.
The winner was Lesley Williams (114), who won narrowly on countback from Ruth Atkins.
l Following the 27-hole competition, there was only one card returned in the ladies’ mid-week nine-hole Stableford competition.
Gill Dewhurst scored 40 points and saw her handicap cut by two strokes.
