The South Holland Stingrays are celebrating after winning the East Midland ASA under-15s water polo tournament in Grantham.

Rookie players Jimmy Hook and Tim Moore joined experienced performers Harry Bumfrey, Louis Clutson, John Baxter, Tomas Daunys and Calvin Wilson in winning the tournament with four victories and a draw.

Hook, Baxter and Bumfrey scored as they drew their opener 3-3 against Nottm Leander, but they won the next four games in style. They beat Northampton 8-0 (Wilson 4, Daunys 2, Hook, Baxter), Grantham B 5-0 (Bumfrey, Hook 2, Daunys, Baxter), South Derby 2-0 (Baxter, Daunys) and Grantham A 7-0 (Daunys 3, Bumfrey 2, Hook, Wilson) to seal the title.

South Holland Stingrays train on Thursday evenings (9-10pm) at the Castle pool. Boys and girls aged under 18 are all eligible to join. Call Jack Carpenter on 07584 034372 for more information.
