A warm, sunny, breezy day set the scene for Sunday’s racing at Welland Yacht Club.
Ten boats competed in the morning points series, again including a couple of juniors.
The conditions proved challenging to some of the less experienced.
Results: 1 Tom Bell (laser), 2 Andy Prior (laser), 3 Paul Burton (phantom).
The afternoon provided two pursuit races in which personal handicaps are used to devise a staggered start, with the theory that all boats stand a chance of being in the same location after 60 minutes when the order of boats is the result.
The range of boats and ability meant that Lucy Burton started first and her dad Paul last, but 17 minutes later, such is the difference.
Results: Pursuit 1 – 1 Tom Bell (laser), 2 Martin Cook (solo), 3 Brian Cobb (europe). Pursuit 2 – 1 Lucy Burton (topper), 2 Shelley Woolridge (laser radial), 3 Cook (solo).
Sunday is the annual open day from 11.30am to 4pm with the last boat out at 3.30pm.
