Long Sutton Ladies Firsts left City of Peterborough with a 2-0 victory in this mid-table battle in East Women’s Hockey League division 2NW.

An early Lyn Tancred penalty flick was saved before she made amends after the break by sliding in a perfect ball into the path of strike partner Leanne Woodhead who opened the scoring.

Tancred then doubled the advantage from a penalty corner.

Meanwhile Sutton Ladies’ Seconds narrowly lost out away at league leaders Wisbech, with just the one goal settling the contest in a game played in poor light.

Long Sutton Men’s 1sts hosted top-of-the-table Letchworth in the Premier B league but lost 3-2.

Sutton came into the game unbeaten in their last three outings, but it was the away side who sneaked victory despite Danny Sisson’s brace in a game full of free-flowing hockey and crunching challenges.

Long Sutton Men’s 2nds were beaten 5-0 at Bourne Deepings in Division 3NW, despite some good performances from youngsters stepping up from the 3rds.

Finally, Long Sutton Men’s 3rds welcomed Wisbech in Division 5NW and despite some availability issues, won 3-0.

Matt Portass, John Sullivan and Josh Baker scored.
