TABLE TENNIS: Shield start for league

TOMORROW night sees the new Spalding and District Table Tennis League season get under way.

As in recent years, the first night lets teams get back into the swing of things with round one of the Moulton Shield.

There’s plenty going on at the Castle Sports Complex, with an all-action clash between Dark Knights and The Marvels on table one.

Nomads face holders South Holland on table two, while Insidious play Ha’st on three in an all-Division Two tie.

JDM Allsorts also face league newcomers Haz Beans.

This year, the Spalding league is sponsored by Vital Recruitment. There are seven teams in Division One – Bladerunners, Defenders, Haz Beans, JAG, JDM Allsorts, South Holland and The Marvels.

Some of these teams have changed personnel and, as well as Haz Beans, there is another player new to the league and one who has moved up a division.

Division Two also has two newcomers, while other members have switched teams. The teams are: Castle Sports, Dark Knights, Ha’st, Insidious and Nomads.

Matches for the October 10 are as follows: JDM Allsorts v Bladerunners; South Holland v Haz Beans; JAG v The Marvels; Ha’st v Dark Knights and Insidious v Nomads.

Most weeks there will up to five free tables for practice as well as visitors, at a cost of £3 a night per player – including use of the league’s robot.
