TABLE TENNIS: League are putting plans in place

The teams are in and the Spalding and District Table Tennis League committee are now beginning the process of putting together the programme for the new season.

It is hoped it may start in the first week of October.

Fourteen teams are entered, seven in each division, an overall reduction of five on last season.

With this comes a loss in the number of members from 44 to 35, the lowest total for four years.

Fourteen players have left the league – most to further education, which probably goes some way to explaining the four-year interval. On the plus side two have returned after a gap of five years and three others are new entries.

It seems likely that the top division will be slightly stronger after the various changes, and with a couple of players dropping back to Division Two that probably applies there as well.

For non-members there should be at least two tables free and they will continue to be welcomed, regardless of ability.
