After another round of league fixtures in the Spalding and District League (sponsored by Vital Recruitment) it is becoming very clear who the contenders for the titles will be.

In Division One, with Bladerunners resting, South Holland and Haz Beans took the chance to move up. Reigning champions Holland faced JAG and father and son pairing John and David Gilbert came away with a 4-1 victory, taking them to the top.

Gilbert senior returned with a blazing double, while James Gibson picked up a point for JAG with some steady play.

Haz Beans defeated Defenders by the same score with Tony Cooper and Colin Vertigan getting their first doubles. Defenders scored in the doubles though Alan Fear found himself on the wrong end of four deuces in his six ends. Haz Beans are level with Bladerunners but the latter have a game in hand both rivals.

Dark Knights moved clear at the top of Division Two with a 3-2 win over Castle. Richard Matthews scored two plus the doubles with Baber Khan, while Mike Mulligan and Reece Kerry got one each for Castle.

Elsewhere, Ha’st finally secured a first win of the season by 3-2. Opponents Nomads shared the singles, but Stuart Duffill took a double while he and Jonathan Matthews won the doubles.

Earlier on, Dark Knights found JDM Allsorts too strong in their Moulton Shield match. Phil Chandler and Pete Budd always had something to spare in taking an unassailable lead.
